I'm 24 hours now from starting my trip. Tomorrow I'll be hopping on a train from Boston to New York City...then catching another from NYC to Florida. I'm very excited and can't wait to leave! I look forward to updating this website and keeping in touch with you all while I travel.
Here's most of the things that I'm bringing on this trip. I'm going to update a more detailed link at the bottom of this page for other people interested in touring:
- 1 Surly Long Haul Trucker Bicycle in a box being shipped at the moment to Uncle Michael's in Port Charlotte, FL.
- 4 Pannier Bags for the bicycle.
- Duffle Bag: For carrying less baggage on to trains.
- Clothing: 4 Shirts, 2 Shorts, 3 Boxers, 3 Pairs Socks, 1 Hat, 1 Scarf, 1 Gloves, 1 Running Pants, 1 Rain Jacket, 1 Fleece Jacket, 1 waterproof lightweight bag.
- Long Bike Lock to go with the u-lock already on the Bike along with a Gewirtz Helmet.
- Extra waterproof bags and a sleeping bag (cut off in the photo).
- A pair of sneakers, wallet, charger.
- A Macbook Pro (one indulgence).
- A sweet Big Agnes Seedhouse SL3 Tent and Q-Core Sleeping Pad.
- A bag of tools for repairing breakdowns.
- A pot for cooking, a spoon, and a bunch of containers for carrying soap, toothpaste, shampoo, spices, etc.
- A SteriPen Sterilizer and Grayl Filtration Unit.
- Tent Poles, battery backups, charging cables, med kit, a patch kit.
- A regular light and headlamp.
- A universal plug adapter.
- Locks to hold panniers on the bicycle and the zippers on the backpack and tent.
- Big Agnes sleeping bag.
- 4 Plastic 2 liter Platypus bottles for water.
- Inflatable Pillow.
- A Brooks Imperial Flyer Saddle and Cover for rainy days.
