5:48 AM..I'm in the Amtrack dining car. It's pretty nice to have a change of pace from the coach class seat. The dining car makes the long train ride much more enjoyable because you have a table and comfortable seat like at a small diner or coffee shop.
We're just getting to Charlotte S.C., but it's still pretty dark out. Savannah Georgia is next and that's one place I've always wanted to see. I tried to drive there once in college but we ended up in Myrtle beach for the weekend instead, so I'm definitely wondering what the city looks like!

Update 1:15PM - I still have not seen Savannah. The train just went through the woods near Savannah, so I'll have to try again some day! I'm only 2 - 1/2 hours from the end of the train ride and I can't wait to get out and stretch my legs.
